Mandala: a word from the Sanskrit meaning “circle”. In Buddhism the mandala was used to focus the attention of the adept, to establish a sacred space, and to help in the meditation process.
These works draw their inspiration from the symmetry inherent in these ancient oriental compositions. Combining and blending floral and botanical motifs, they convert apparent chaos and the wild proliferation of nature into an order that is simultaneously kaleidoscopic, playful and mathematical.
